Collection: Brass Artware Incense Burner

Brass Censer A brass censer is a small metal or stone dish used for burning incense. Typically, it is a metal container, similar in size and shape to a small coffee pot, suspended on chains, often with small bells attached. Hot coals are placed in the bowl, and incense is placed on top.

Theological Significance. For Christians, burning incense symbolizes the prayers of the faithful rising towards Heaven like a sweet-smelling fragrance. A common psalm sung during censing is, "Let my prayer rise like incense before You, the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice." Some Orthodox Christians use a standing censer on their home altars.

Often gold-plated, the censer combines the three gifts of the Biblical Magi. gold, frankincense, and myrrh, at the offering of incense.
