How to Use Your Adjustable Floating Wick Holder:
Insert a piece of the included cotton wick into the central aluminum tube, leaving exactly 3 mm to 4 mm exposed at the top tip.
Prepare your vigil lamp glass container by filling the bottom majority with water, leaving just the top 20% room to be filled with high-quality vegetable oil (pure olive oil is highly recommended). Do not use synthetic paraffin oil.
Holding the float by its adjustment arms, lower it gently onto the surface of the oil. Once the wick thoroughly absorbs the oil layer, light the tip.
The Monastic Self-Extinguishing Safety Feature: When the burning wick consumes the top 20% layer of oil, the float naturally touches the underlying water line and safely self-extinguishes the flame. This is completely normal and intentional. When you are ready to refill the lamp with fresh oil, the wick will automatically draw up the new oil after a few moments.
